Luke Lee

Luke Lee is a Singaporean lawyer, investor, entrepreneur, actor and philanthropist, best known for portraying Sergeant Heng in Singapore’s highest grossing movies in history, Jack Neo’s Ah Boys to Men (2012) and its sequel, Ah Boys to Men II (2013). In 2012, STAR Chinese Movies acquired pay television rights to Ah Boys to Men. To date, Ah Boys to Men remains the most watched local title in Singapore on Netflix and is now also available on Disney+ and HBO Go.


Lee left the Singapore army as a First Lieutenant after completion of 2 years of national service. During his studies in the United Kingdom, Lee trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Lee graduated from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2015 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and returned to Singapore where he was called to the Singapore Bar as a lawyer.

Lee is an Associate Director at BR Law Corporation and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) with Distinction from King’s College London, specialising in International Dispute Resolution.

Luke is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Institute, a member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration and empanelled as an International Mediator on the Sage Mediation International Mediators Panel.

Luke has represented and advised state-level entities, multinational corporations, business families, high / ultra-high net worth individuals, and conglomerates / corporate groups situated both locally and abroad (including the United States, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia) traversing a wide range of industries such as energy, commodities, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and sustainable technologies. He has appeared as lead counsel in the State Courts, Family Justice Courts and the Supreme Court and as counsel in the SIAC, VIAC, SICC, SMC and CFRC.

He advises SMEs and start-ups on the law of emerging technologies such as AI, smart contracts, cryptocurrencies, distributed ledger technology (including but not limited to blockchain technology), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and their respective regulatory frameworks such as policies in respect of digital payment token (DPT) service providers under Singapore’s Payment Services Act and Payment Services Regulations.

Outside of the legal field, Lee is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard AI and the Founder of Vanguard Film Group. Lee is an active angel investor who invests in promising businesses and startups at the seed and early stages to Series B in fields such as emerging technologies, B2B, SaaS, art, fashion, film and FinTech. He is an early public market investor in Amazon, PayPal and Tesla, an active investor in Bitcoin and Ether and a strong proponent of decentralised finance and blockchain technology.

In 2014, Lee starred in his first international commercial for Manchester United, “The History of the Manchester United Shirt”, directed by the Oscar-nominated Joaquín Baca-Asay (Jay Z’s ’99 Problems’) and starring Wayne Rooney. He then starred in A Fantastic Ghost Wedding (2014), HBO Asia’s Serangoon Road (2013) and Point of Entry (2010). In 2015, he starred in MediaCorp’s Tanglin (2015), as the male lead in the feature film Fragment (2015) and in the 2018 romantic-drama 20 Days. An advocate for fitness and martial arts, Lee signed with Reebok as their ambassador in Singapore in 2016, allowing him to work closely together with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in various countries across the globe. 

Philanthropy

In his spare time, Lee is an ardent supporter of and donor towards philanthropic causes which support both groundbreaking research and humanitarian aid for nonprofits, such as the Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Lee’s time is predominantly split between Asia, Europe and the USA for business, fundraising initiatives as well as acting and commercial projects.
